Thursday, October 27, 2011 - Winnipeg Blue Bomber Stadium Traffic Impact Study

On Thursday, October 27, 2011, Mr. Robert Kurylko, P.Eng., a Transportation Engineer with Stantec, presented on the traffic impacts of the new Winnipeg Blue Bombers Stadium.  The stadium is currently being constructed at the University of Manitoba and is slated to open for next year's season.  During events, the development is expected to generate high volumes of traffic and accommodating all of the required parking will be a major challenge.  Increased transit services will hopefully help to reduce the anticipated congestion by shuttling patrons to and from games.

Monday, October 17, 2011 - Sterling Lyon Parkway and Kenaston Boulevard Intersection Signal Layout

On Monday, October 17, 2011, the U of M ITE Student Chapter held it's first luncheon of the year.  Mr. Michael Cantor, P.Eng., PTOE, a Traffic Signals Engineer with the City of Winnipeg, presented on the new signal and intersection layout at the Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway intersection.  Triple left turns are required on two approaches of this intersection, which is adjacent to the new Seasons of Tuxedo Development.  Among many other facilities, Seasons of Tuxedo will be home to an IKEA, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2012.
